Recipe :: Quick and Easy Turkey Burgers

Looking for a recipe to spice things up at your next summer BBQ? These jacked up turkey burgers are the answer to your prayers. They are simply delicious and don't sit as heavy as a greasy regular beef patty. Read up!
My wonderfully-kitchen-savvy sister introduced me to this recipe at the beginning of the summer. These burgers have made an appearance at every barbecue since, and they're so simple I  even whip them up for myself during the week. If it involves goat cheese and red onion, I'll probably gobble it right up!
These guys are so convenient. A pound of turkey yields about 4-5 burgers, so if you're only one for dinner, the patties can freeze until next time. How beautifully easy?! Let's get onto it!

Red Onion + Spinach Turkey Burgers
yields 4 large patties
1lb ground turkey
- 1/2 cup chopped red onion
- large handful fresh spinach, chopped
- salt + pepper
- bread of choice, goat cheese,  + dijon mustard to serve

1. In a medium-sized bowl, use your hands to mix red onions and spinach into turkey, seasoning well with salt and pepper. A hint for chopping spinach: stack the leaves one on top of another, roll up into a cigar-like formation, and chop away!

2. Using hands, form patties. This recipe yields 4 large burgers, but I tend to go for 5 smaller sized patties. The shape and size of the patties can be determined by preference, but flatter patties - opposed to fatter patties - will be easier to cook.

3. Cook the patties in a a medium-sized skillet on medium to high heat. The patty should sizzle when you place it in the pan. Cooking time will differ depending on the size of the burger, but it will be around 7 minutes on each side. Same instructions apply when cooking on an barbecue.

5. Serve with goat cheese and dijon mustard on a toasted English muffin. Enjoy!
