CURRENT WISHLIST

Happy Friday, guys and gals! Today is a big day -- my 16th birthday, but also Governor's Ball [ it's festival season, have you heard? ]. Oh, and how could I forget?! It's also national donut day. I'm not sure which of the three I'm most excited about.

Either way, it's [kind of] summer, we're all bored of school [or work], and your wallets could use some exercise.

Happy weekend and happy shopping!

AN ODE TO ROSIE ASSOULIN

I read Man Repeller everyday. And I'm not talking just one 7:00 pm sweep of the site. I have it open on my computer all day and refresh it every few hours. I've probably read 97% of the pieces published from October until today.
That being said, the name Rosie Assoulin has become all too familiar .. But only in an abstract way. You know, like when your bestie gets this new bestie and won't shut up about her new "totally amazing and cool and Instagram savvy bestie!" for four months so therefore A) causes the word bestie to now be in your everyday vernacular against your will and B) makes you jump when someone was tagged in the new bestie's pic on Facebook because you just know that name. I know you know.
And eventually in that four month trajectory you'll click on the bestie's Facebook page and scroll through every picture until you hit a 2009 profile picture complete with side bangs and a tube top. So today, post-CDFA's, when I heard that Rosie Assoulin won an award, I jumped to her Facebook page. JK. I just Googled her. And scrolled and read for awhile, to find out that A) she is undeniably "totally amazing and cool!", B) her line consists of a whole bunch of clothes I would sell my soul for, and C) I want her to be my new bestie.

You've made it this far, and do you finally agree with me?! She is bestie goals. In fact, she is just flat out goals. But if I can't be her, I can just be best friends with her, right? And while I'm at it wear some of these drop-dead-roll-over-in-my-grave-but-in-a-good-way clothes. (; If you feel the same way and happen to have some spare couture change in your pocket(book), shop her collection below!

Happy shopping / lusting!

A GUIDE TO DENIM SHORTS

My favorite summer essential has quickly become denim shorts. Guys, they are comfortable, they are fun, they are trendy, somehow still classic, and the likes of Olivia Palermo and Alexa Chung have proven that they are chic.

My J Brand pair from last summer became my holy grail. I just felt comfortable in them. They were flattering, stretchy, soft .. Like Nike shorts, but socially acceptable. It's not easy, though, to find just the right pair. Like ballet flats or jeans, they come in all different shapes, sizes, and varieties. There is, I promise you, the perfect pair out there. Don't give up! In fact, let's get this party started. Shop every variation of these beloved "jorts" until you find the one.

Though I often gravitate towards light wash, distressed, raw edged cut offs, I tried to offer you some diversity. Do some research, try some one, figure out what the best fit for you is! High waisted, low rise, light wash, dark wash, cuffed, 3", 5"? This is all about preference.

Best of luck in your denim hunt!

TRENDING : MIDI SKIRTS

In my childhood I recall wearing A) a pair of liberty print overalls, B) red t-strap sandals, and C) a giant pink tutu. Sometimes I would wear them all together, sometimes separately, depending on the day. Those three pieces of clothing defined my wardrobe from the ages of 3 to 7, when you could no longer get away with wearing a tutu to school, unless it was Halloween, maybe. Since then, the rules have changed ... Midi Skirts in fluffy tulle, bright patterns, or sleek satin have been a rumored street style and many people didn't know if they could dash around the city in this so-called "adult tutu." This rumored street style was confirmed by none other than Blair Edie. Blair, of course, makes this this "adult tutu" elegant and mature. From that point on midi skirts have been in and I have been dying to get my hands on one. There are so many fun fabrics, prints, and patterns out there!

Until I can walk without limping, midi skirts and heels are out of the picture [ approximately one more month! ]. This doesn't mean that I can't hope and dream. :) Shop some of my favorites below.

16 FESTIVAL-WORTHY TOPS [ UNDER $60! ]

Ok, so I know -- yes, I do know -- that Coachella isn't a new thing. We, in fact, are the same age. So happy 16th birthday, Coachella! We're also similar in the fact that we're just getting better with time. Think of Coachella as a high school sophomore -- sure, maybe it hasn't peeked, but it sure as hell has grown out of its awkward stage and into its trying-really-damn-hard-to-be-cool stage, and I can assure you that it has succeeded. Coachella is the cool kid at school. You know the kind.

But what does this mean? It means that it's more accessible. Man Repeller published a piece last summer following the life-cycle of a trend, and Coachella is right there in the middle of it. And because of its popularity, we all get to experience it. Whether it be by actually buying a ticket to the festival, buying a ticket another festival, or just living your life as a festival. And for that reason, my friends, let's start shopping some festival-worthy fashion.

Today: tanks, blouses, crops, tees, bralettes. Anything and everything to cover your upper half.

I have tried to cover a plethora of sizes, colors, patterns, and trends. Except, if you haven't noticed, bright lace is kind of my weakness...

Stay tuned for more festival posts! I'm thinking: DIY distressed denim shorts, along with a denim shorts guide, a shoe guide, an accessory guide, and an essentials guide. LMK, friends!

WEEKEND WARDROBE | 5 . 15 . 15

A few adjectives to describe this outfit : different, exciting!, textured, festive?, loud, but also .. simple?

Agree? Disagree?

LMK, because, honestly, I don't know where it came from. It's definitely inspired, by what? I don't know. I think the story it's telling is "Girl whose Instagram bio reads, 'ugh, I swear I should've been born in the 70's,' attends Coachella, disappears, resurfaces at Cinco de Mayo party dressed in same clothes. Current whereabouts unknown. Probably listening to Joni Mitchell in a trendy cafe."

And guess what, I'm ok with it. In fact, I would love to be friends with that girl. She has great taste.

We might be late to the Coachella and Cinco de Mayo festivities, but if this outfit is anything, its timeless. Kind of.

TEN SLIP-ON SANDALS FOR SUMMER

With school wrapping up over the next month, things are going to be quite hectic with everything from Memorial Day Weekend, to final exams, to Governor's Ball. I have been searching through tons of online stores for a simple slide-on sandal to take me through the next few weeks. Having a bulky cast has caused the putting-on-shoes process to take about 5-7 minutes each time. I needed something that I could slide on easily, instead of spending five minutes tying my laces. Finally, after a quite strenuous decision, I got black Birkenstocks and they are my love and my life. Although breaking them in was a challenge, my Birkenstocks have probably saved me, now several times, from being late to yet another English class. Perfect for the morning bagel run or just dashing around town in the afternoon. So, here are some of my top picks for shoes with no strings attached! Literally!

THOUGHTS ON OVERALLS? + MY FAVORITE OPTIONS

I don't even know, man. Well, I mean, I guess I kind of know.

I know that back in the day, seeing my mother in a pair of overalls signaled a new baby on the way. I know that directly following her overalls, were my overalls. From the ages of nothing to four, they were all I knew. I know that after growing out of my toddler phase, I, for the next 10 years, only regarded them as children's clothes. I also know that last summer I walked into Ann Taylor LOFT, scoffed at my sister's lame jeans and my mom's even lamer trousers, and walked out of the dressing room in the flyest pair of overalls you ever did see. I know my sister reminded me it was 2014, and therefore, I could not buy said-overalls. Lastly, I know, that they have been on my mind lately, and I can't get 'em out.

I didn't know, until like, idk, two weeks ago, that they are now referred to as dungarees. They are now sported by the trendiest of trendsetters. They are now light wash, dark wash, and everything in between. They now come in skin tight styles, baggier than an actual bag styles, and cut-off styles. They are now [ again ] socially accepted.

Now that we do actually know all the facts, I still do not know how I feel about them.

How does one utilize a public restroom in a pair of skin tight, dark wash dungarees? How does one avoid looking like she came right out of a 1990's *NSYNC poster? Does she do it by wearing a pair of skin tight, dark wash dungarees? But then, may I ask, HOW DOES SHE UTILIZE A PUBLIC RESTROOM?!

Maybe this, like the romper, is an instance in which we forego all public-restroom-dignity for the sake of fashion. For the sake of fashion, we will strip down to our knickers, and with shaking legs [ for fear of someone breaking the barrier between us and the outside world ], squat over a public toilet, while our skin tight, dark wash dungarees pool around our ankles, and grace the floor of this seemingly-skeevy restroom? Are you willing to do that? Am I?!

But they look hella cute, that's for sure.
I still can't decide if I would lose it [ it : my peeing-in-public dignity ] for an all-encompassing piece of denim. But honestly, I'm swooning over these photos. Here's an idea: I could just be Alexa Chung, and then I could wear whatever and do whatever I want, with no concerns of bathroom -- public or private -- dignity whatsoever.

Yep. That's it. Here's a bunch of options for when I make my transition [ help me pick which pair to wear on my tell-all interview with Diane Sawyer .. (; ].
Shop to it [ and throw up a big fat middle finger to my sister who proclaimed overalls are a no in the modern day ]! And don't be afraid to share your thoughts on this peculiar article of clothing .. I'd love to hear!

AN ODE TO STRIPES

People always say they have a neutral color, whether it is black, white, or the occasional blue ... mine is stripes. I always find myself coming back to a square cut blue and white striped shirt. Usually, my daily outfit is a striped t-shirt, a pair of boyfriend jeans, and white Jack Purcell's, and sometimes, when I want a change, I'll throw on a necklace. It is just so easy and so versatile, which makes getting dressed at 7:00 am much easier.

Untitled #42

Pair it with dainty necklaces or go bold with a statement necklace like this one. Leather jacket or field jack .. you name it. Stripes are like coffee. Addictive, yet oh so good :) Shop some of my striped favorites below.

10 COCKTAIL DRESSES FOR EVERY SPRING OCCASION

Happy spring-wedding-season, ladies! I, thank goodness -- at the ripe age of 15, have not found myself ever drowning in the travel, dressing, and gifting expenses that overwhelm thousands of 20 or 30-somethings every year. Wedding season is on the verge of full bloom, and I sure do hope you're prepared.
I do in fact have one wedding to attend this spring #gasp. But, weddings aside, the spring is a big time for fashion's go-to gals -- dresses. The sun is shining, people are happy, their legs may be pasty, but hey, they'll show 'em off anyway. Weddings, graduations, proms, parties -- all rear their heads during this glorious season we call spring, and they all call for a kick-ass cocktail dress.

Here's 10 you really can't go wrong with this year!
Colors -- notice no black or white -- and patterns are obvious choices. It is spring after all .. Embrace it, why don't ya?

Let's hope spring stays spring -- good riddance Winter 2k15!

SPRING WISHLIST

I am currently on the mend after my ACL surgery and am up to my knees with work! Who knew that missing 5 days of classes would mean that I have to take 2 quizzes, 2 tests, and present a project tomorrow... crazy sh!t.

I am so excited for warmer weather to roll around because walking in the rain on crutches is no fun. Hopefully this week flies by so that I can be caught up on all my work. For now I can dream about bright dresses and Soludos .. that actually come in my size [ I have huge feet, did you know? ].

FESTIVAL STYLE INSPIRATION

Pop the champagne and throw the confetti .. Yesterday I [ finally ] bought my ticket for Governor's Ball. The purchase and prior-deliberation was not lacking in the drama department, and you have my teenage girl hormones to thank for that. I, on the other hand, have Stubhub to thank for selling me a ticket after they [ much to my dismay ] sold out on Friday afternoon.

But, look, we all made it out alive, and now it's time to start prep. Coachella is now behind us and has left ample fashion inspiration in it's wake.

Let's marvel together.

I can tell you now that I will not be in a dress on the fateful day of June 5th.

However, I can tell you now that denim and a fresh pair of kicks sunglasses will be apart of my get up. And, just because I hate lying, so will a fresh pair of kicks.

Stay tuned for more festival style posts -- I can't wait to actually start shopping!

LET'S TALK ABOUT SUNGLASSES

The snow is gone, the sun is out, and the trees are threatening to recover their luscious green battle armor. But what about you?! As hard as it is to believe, spring has sprung. We armed your feet, and now let's arm your beautiful little eyeballs.
I'm really struggling to put a finger on what my #1 favorite eyewear trend currently is. I like them big, I like them mirrored, and I like them round. But what about matte lenses, lucite frames, or metallic finishes? *dramatic and exasperated teenage girl voice* I JUST DON'T KNOW, MOM.

On the count of three, shop all of those trends and -- wait for it -- more in this conveniently provided widget. ONE, TWO THREE, GO.

11 pairs of sunglasses, some more expensive than others, some more trendy than others .. All the perfect spring accessory, all protective of your eyes, and your eyes alone. Unless you listened in kindergarten and learned that sharing is caring. Whatever.

BATTLE AMOR UP, LADIES. PROTECT YOUR EYEBALLS FROM THE SUN IN STYLE.
hugs, kisses, and spring blessings,

GET THE LOOK :: GIGI HADID

During fashion week, I developed a style crush on Gigi Hadid. Since then I have looked at every fashion show she has appeared in, followed her Instagram, and basically knows where she is 24/7 (it helps that she is REALLY famous and I am stuck in bed). From on and off the runway, I adore all her outfit choices. Here is one of my favorite model off-duty looks of hers.

To get that off-duty model vibe, just throw on a baseball tee and pair of worn-in ripped jeans. Also, don't forget your bomber jacket along with your trendy mirrored sunnies! And ta-da, you are the next Gigi Hadid! Shop below my version of Gigi's outfit.

SPRING DRESSES UNDER $100

Reality check: it is still rainy and gross here in New York and it's already April ... It scares me how fast this year has gone by! As spring, hopefully, approaches, it's time for a good old spring cleaning of my closet. Something I hate to do, but needs to be done. It is hard to choose if you should keep those espadrilles that only match one outfit or that shirt that is way too small, but is too cute to give away #thesturggleisreal. The only benefit of cleaning your closet is that it creates more room for all those new spring clothes that you will buy! And for all those broke people out there, including me, don't start crying yet because all these dresses won't send you into debt.

Now raise your hand if you are ready for spring!
