NYFW in One Post

It's Tuesday night. I've spent the day reading Man Repeller and listening to Lorde. My brain is fried. Thing's are about to get weird.

We haven't had a chance to sit down and talk face to face about fashion week. You - busy with all your productive and self fulfilling activities and achievements. Me - busy with sleeping, eating, and complaining (mostly about lack of the former and excess of the latter). That being said - there's simply not enough time in the day to talk fashion. But now there is. We're making time.

Just you, me, and a whole ton of style.com slideshows. Intimate.

I think the intention of this post was to talk to you about my favorite collections. Let's get that out of the way so we can get down to the nitty gritty.

+ Alexander Wang : because white perforated leather tennis dresses are important.

+ Alice + Olivia : because all white pant suits, shin length skirts, and mixed patterns are simply exhilarating.

+ Band of Outsiders : because I want to be vacationing in Montauk in faded stripes and knee high gladiators.

+ Carolina Herrera : because a nod to the 60's never goes unappreciated.

+ Erin Fetherston : because lace and florals for spring are, in fact, totally groundbreaking.

+ Michael Kors : because I want to be picnicking in a knee length floral frock with my leather-accented picnic basket (no, Kors is not featuring leather-accented picnic baskets in this collection, but I wish he was).

+ Oscar de la Renta : because I feel gingham in my soul. And I'm not exaggerating.

+ Tibi : because neutral-toned boxy cuts are cool. Not as cool as top hats.

+ Tory Burch : because I want to be a 1960's housewife who manages to travel the globe in her downtime.

The end.

Now time for the nitty gritty. What that is? I actually have no idea. I thought we could just chat about the out of body experience that is New York Fashion Week. Not that I have first hand experience, or anything.

Ok. Can we take a second to marvel together. At the thing that is NYFW. The amazing, exhilarating, awe-inducing, train-wreck-you-can't-stop-watching thing. It's simply and utterly amazing. The intricacies, the oddities, the sights. Everyone has a voice, and not one person is afraid to present theirs - designers, photographers, attendees, street-stylers alike. I sit behind a computer screen with my jaw on the floor experiencing these visual stories. I can only imagine what it's like in person.

For now, I'm sticking to Man Repeller, Lorde on repeat, and style.com tabs for days and days.

What were your favorite collections? What about your favorite thing about Fashion Week in general?!
xx MGR
