7 Beach Must-Haves

beachin'

CMK and I will be wrapping up our summer break by soaking up every last bit of prime time summer sun. We'll be changing our clocks to Island Time and spending the next few days on the beach - with bikes as our only means of transportation and plenty of homemade ice cream. Whether your catching another beach weekend, spending some time in your backyard or by a pool, or even if you're already back at school (if that's the case, my deepest condolences), here's a few of my beach must-haves.

1. iPhone/iPod, headphones, and a good playlist
Lying in the sand and listening to music is my favorite thing to do at the beach. I get to totally zone out - and catch some rays while I'm at it. My phone's currently sporting this adorable vineyard vines crab case (courtesy of my bro)..I love it! While my phone's quite snazzy, I stick to the regular Apple headphones. And as for what I'm listening to, check out my playlist posts on our Tumblr.

2. A beach read
Everyone loves to have a book to entertain them while sitting on the beach. I'd definitely be sinking my teeth into Grace Coddington's memoir if I didn't have so much summer reading to catch up on!

3. A hat
Whether you're a baseball cap chick, or a sunhat gal, hats are a necessity at the beach. I personally alternate between some favorite caps and my new Ralph Lauren sunhat to shade my face from those harsh rays and keep the sun out of my eyes while I'm reading (nobody likes an Aviators tan line). If my hat collection was in need of some new members, I'd be snatching up a vineyard vines neon hat.

4. An adorable coverup
When you're ready to take a break from the sun, a cute coverup is definitely in order. CMK and I both swoon over Roberta Roller Rabbit and her amazing fabrics and patterns. This summer I've been sporting my neon pink seersucker button down style coverup (that's a mouthful), but I'm also loving this blue and white number

5. SPF!!
While a great tan is practically what I live for during the summer, you have to protect your skin. I prefer the spray on sunscreen over lotion any day. This year I've been using Neutrogena's Beach Defense and loving it. Bonus: It smells awesome!

6. H2O and a cute coozie
My whale-clad brother surprised me with some pretty cute vineyard vines coozies after the Derby. The patterned and logo'd sleeves are practically begging me to pair them up with a cold water bottle and show 'em off on the beach. Staying hydrated is important, especially during a long day in the sun!

7. Headbands
These guys are a lifesaver for me on the beach. After splashing around in the water, my hair is out of control, and these fat, stretchy headbands come in handy to keep crazy fly-aways out of my face. How cute are these monogrammed ones from Etsy?!

However you're spending the rest of your summer break, I hope you enjoy these sunny days while they last.

xx
