Happy Birthday, Lilly Pulitzer!

Oof, such a stereotypical blogpost..But I can't help it. The barefoot queen of pink and green. A game changer in the world of preppy fashion and lifestyle. A total inspiration.

The prints, the wisdom, the lifestyle. Lilly Pulitzer lived the life I want. She saw the bright side in everything, literally, and spread that to women's closets throughout the country. What could possibly be cooler than Palm Beach in the 60's, starting a clothing brand from total scratch?

An icon, to say the least, her story makes you think twice. After I heard about not just the history of the brand, but the history of the woman behind it, my appreciation towards the colorful patterns grew x10. It struck me as though the brand was started as a creative outlet and something that ultimately got her through a rough time. And look where it is now!

Even after passing away earlier this year, Lilly still has the ability to cheer me up on a bad day. Rereading her story, putting on one of her fun, quirky, vibrant prints, or reading a quote that simply reminds me "anything's possible with sunshine and a little pink." #yes. Not to mention just the simple fact that she wandered around Palm Beach barefoot, a turban on her head, throwing parties that lasted late into the night and dancing around the kitchen with her husband and friends.

She reminds me to be myself, break the norm. Who said "preppy" is only boarding school, horse shows, and New England? Definitely not Lilly.

Today we're celebrating the barefoot queen of pink and green, care to join?

xx MGR

PS: Cheers to today also being my sister's birthday!!
