FOLLOW ALONG WITH MY NEW BEDROOM

I could talk [ write ] for hours about my room. Why I love it, why I hate it, what's old, what's new, what's needed, what absolutely needs to go. I could talk [ write ] for hours about the room I'll be moving into. What I want it to look like, what I want it to function as, what I want to do with it. I, to save you time and not force you into a perpetual state of boredom, will do the latter rather than the former.
Here's some before shots. My sister and I successfully painted half the room two months ago. The painters are on their way to finish our work. (; Once it's painted, I'll move in!

So far, I have the essentials. We [ thank Jesus, Mary, and Joseph ] found a headboard at Home Goods yesterday for $150 [ mind. boggling. ]. It's bamboo and I'm considering painting it a high-gloss navy. I also have a small brass side table, similar to the one below, except lacking a top and probably in need of a fresh coat of paint. I think this navy one would be it's perfect complement and I hope to scoop it up soon. I'll be using my current dresser [white, Ikea, assorted Anthropologie knobs], desk [white, parsons], and desk chair [lucite, blue monogram].
headboard | euro shams | pillows 1, 2, 3

The appearance of my bed is essential to my happiness. My pintuck duvet cover, a la West Elm, holds my heart, and I'm considering the matching Euro shams. To counter the stark white, I dream of colorful pillows. Actual, genuine dreams. I haven't been able to find just the right one to use as a jumping off point, until I found that center-placed gem on Etsy last night. It turned the direction of the room towards Chinese motifs, bamboo and pagodas, blues, oranges, and greens. I am, without a doubt, perfectly okay with that. But we'll just see where it all ends up...

I hope to make some more progress over the next few weeks to share with you all! LMK [as my mom would say] if you have any resources or recs, I'd love to hear!

Bettina Prentice's Apartment

*images

How adorable is Bettina's apartment!? I am head over heels for it. I came across her bedroom on Pinterest and it was love at first sight. I adore how everything is sort of mismatch. Her interior designer, Chiara de Rege, did a wonderful job with the space she chose. Bettina, founder and owner of Prentice Art Communications, currently resides in New York with her husband, Jamie.

What interior qualities pop out at you?

Gallery Walls

One wall of my room is a blank slate and I have been inspired to jazz it up. I wan to try and do a mix of sculpture, personal photos, and prints. Hopefully this will happen during this upcoming fall or winter. I am in love with this print and this one too, but am still looking for different and unique pieces. If you have suggestions comment below!

Do you know of any fun pieces of art?

Desk Space

Pinterest is full of ideas for desk space, which I am in desperate need of. My desk area is super cluttered and crammed. Next weekend when I redo my pin board, I plan on starting to de-clutter my desk and vanity area. I am inspired to make my desk look like one of the pictures above.

Is your desk clean or chic?

Doors

Doors have become my latest obsession and are becoming quite popular in the Instagram and Pinterest world. The best thing is that they can be any color and to top it off have a cool door knocker.   They make me want to roam New York City searching for unique doors. I am motivated to paint my door turquoise and put a gold elephant door knocker on it!

Are you a fan of fun doors?

Floral

Spring has been on my mind lately and I am too excited for the warm weather to come. It has been of year of tons of snow and ice, which makes life way more hectic. I think I have come to the point where I only like snow when it is the first snowfall or if I am skiing. Lately, I have been addicted to pinning on our Floral Pinterest board. Flowers, without doubt, add life and brightness in a room. One of my ideas for my summer bucket list is to have always have fresh flowers in my room. Not only are they pretty, but they smell awesome! Here are some of my favorite floral pins.

I just can not get enough of them!

Will you be purchasing flowers this spring?

Navy or Nothing

Ever since I read the words Navy or Nothing it officially has become my motto. Navy is literally a color that I can rely on to match anything.  Personally, I am pretty sure I wear a little bit of navy everyday. Also, it makes a room or person seem brighter or younger. Navy has a way of making someone look very chic, but yet isn't too overwhelming in brightness or darkness. It is defiantly a color that is always there for you in a time of fashion or interior need.

Glitter, Pink, or Turquoise you name it Navy will do just the trick!
Do you agree Navy or Nothing?

NYGF

The second semester has arrived. I finally had my first physics lab and it was quite interesting. I am also starting to make a packing list, which means winter break is near! In two weeks, I shall be on the slopes at Deer Valley, Utah and I am so excited to ski all day long for a week. Also, to see my cute little baby cousin..she is just a munchkin.
Last Sunday, MGR and I went to the Javits Center for the New York Gift Show and we had a blast. It was awesome to see what will be new this spring from our favorite brans and also some new upcoming products from smaller companies. Here are some links to my favorites booths from the day (and some pictures of course!).....

Cork Board Revamp

Anyone still a huge fan of an old fashion cork board? I definitely am! Mine is one of my favorite parts of my room. It adds an extra punch of personality! I like to have it propped up on my desk to brighten up the workspace (last seen here). I know tons of people like to fix their's with their current inspirations, but I like it to serve as a memory board - filled with favorite pictures, movie tickets, and clothing tags. Mine was in need of a little update, so I thought I'd take you along for the ride!
I split my items into different categories:
- Pushpins : These are a must! I use a mixture of fun pins and regular pushpins.
- Tags : I am a tag hoarder. I love branding, so I'm a huge fan of decorating my board with these!
- Sentimental items : Things like movie/concert/sporting tickets, old letters, hotel keys, etc.
- Photos : A must for my cork board. I split mine up into older photos and more recent ones.
- Stickers : Got a ton of bumper stickers, but no car? No worries! They're my favorite things on my cork board.
- Things to hang : I tend to hang things on the corners of mirrors and cork boards. Party beads, leis, old glow sticks, etc.
I added the photos first. They were my largest items and the best things to build around! I had to prioritize which ones I wanted up - there was no way they'd all fit. I added my more recent photos first and then added some of the older ones. After that, I built around them, adding tons of stickers (eep @ the Kate Spade ones!), an old Giants ticket, my Lumineers ticket, a pretty little tag via Anthropologie, and my brother's pass from a VV tradeshow.
I added some finishing touches and propped it up on my desk. I'm totally loving the way it turned out! It was super overwhelming before and I needed to cut it down. I'll probably do something different when I redo my room, but it's perfect for right now!

Do you have a cork board up in your room?
